Year 10 as part of their Thursday Vocation Day have been undertaking and environmental challenge at Poole Farm in the Forder Valley. Poole Farm is part of the Derriford Plan Community Park and it is being developed as a city farm specializing in rare breeds. It will eventually become an educational centre that all schools across Plymouth can access. It will give young people access to a working farm and offer lots of opportunities not only to experience of where their food comes from, but could lead onto real job opportunities in the future. Brook Green Centre for Learning has been identified as a partner in helping Plymouth City Council design the packages available to schools. We are really lucky to be involved at such an early stage and this will hopefully become a long and fruitful relationship.
This week students took part in scrub clearance. The next job they will undertake is tree planting. The students worked really hard and it was a hot day but they kept up the hard work and cleared a lot of scrub. They were a credit to the school. Well done.
